3 Reasons Why Every App Developer Needs To Use Mobile App Analytics

Until recent advances in digital marketing, mobile app publishing has for the most of it been a 'spray-and-pray' type of process. The problem is that it's costly, and with the low price-point of the average mobile app ($1.49 Apple App Store) the investment into any marketing at all can be hard to justify.
Introducing mobile app analytics! This is the latest craze in marketing of today. Great marketing always comes back to knowing what your audience wants. And if an app developer can figure out what makes their users happy, then they have a greater chance of building profitable mobile apps. Let's look into how and why big app development companies are jumping aboard this analytics buzz.
Looking Inside Your App
Ask yourself, if you knew how your users were experiencing your app; if you knew where they were getting stuck, and where they were getting the most enjoyment out of your app; how would that help you when making changes and updates?
App analytics allows you to open up and look inside your app. It lets you monitor your users in real-time and find out what they like and what they don't like, so that you can make educated decisions about how to configure your app for future releases.
Know Your Users
Knowing who is downloading your app and using it the most can give you valuable insight into how to structure your marketing collateral and attract more of the people who love your app!
There are app analytical tools that collect data about your users like their geographical position, the time they use the app the most, what device they use and what advertising is working the best. The days where marketing was a case of hit-and-miss are well and truly over. Today's marketing is targeted. It's a process of constant and never ending improvement using the 'Test - Measure - Tweak' philosophy.
Get to know your users better and begin tailoring your marketing so that your expenditure is going to give you the highest possible return on your investment.
Predicting Trends In The Marketplace
Being the last to find out about a trend is never fun. And in app development it can cost you a fortune. Fortunately there are specific app analytics programs available to let you monitor app marketplace trends. Watching your competitors and specific keywords that are working is priceless.
There are a number of cloud-based solutions for mobile app analytics that you can tap into and start using now. And the best thing is that some of them are even Free. Check out this list of the 10 Most Popular Mobile App Analytics Tools and good luck.

Facebook Is Making App Marketing Easy

How are you acquiring app installs for your app? When asked the same question most candidates answer was simply: Facebook...
With that in mind, it's important to stay up to date with the latest trends in Facebook Ad Units. This is especially important when looking at Facebook's history of change. Which for a marketer is far too often. In this case, we've got exciting news for you:
Streamlining Mobile App ad units
Facebook have announced their decision to streamline its mobile app install ad units to allow advertisers to more easily build ads in a matter of a few clicks. Marketers can now build and install ad by punching in their sales copy and providing a link to their app on the App Store or Google Play. The new process is supposed to make it easier for app developers to push out their ads by eliminating unnecessary steps of having to register mobile applications with Facebook.
All in all, this is a great development for marketers, particularly the smaller ones who use the self-service ads regularly. Moving forward, Facebook seems to have taken a leaf out of Google AdWords book of tricks in making it easier for small players and developers who may be interested in dipping their toe in the water with a smaller initial spend on ad units before investing more heavily.
In our company, we're huge fans of the Facebook mobile app install ad. Having seen the results that some of these ad units can deliver has really ramped up our interest. My personal opinion is that Facebook mobile app install unit provides a fantastic way for app marketers to efficiently reach the highly targeted Facebook audience of over 750 million smartphone users.
Best Implementation Practices
So far, the great results we have seen from it have come from consistently testing, measuring and tweaking the ads to enhance their effectiveness. App marketers will notice a significant increase in downloads from an aggressive approach to monitoring and optimising the ads over time.
Great work Facebook, for making our life easier and helping app developers around the world achieve their goals faster. The new and improved mobile app install ad process seems to be a smart, forward-moving approach by Facebook to increase its appeal to app developers of every size. If you're an app developer and you haven't yet tried the unit, now is the time to give it a jam.

Hackers Are Eyeing Your GPS Too

Global Positioning System unit is taking a high toll in the latest addition of gadgets and electronic devices. GPS - Global Positioning System is a satellite based electronic device that provides information on time, positioning and weather conditions. Sometimes the satellite navigation system may not be re-installed but you can connect it separately to your device. GPS devices can be loaded in cars, mobiles, home computers, laptops, digital cameras or smart phones.
How the GPS device works?
Each device has an inbuilt GPS receiver connected to the GPS satellite that coordinates the location and shows the position. The security forces and security system of countries have become largely dependent on GPS navigation system. The military defense, civil, navy and aviation forces are using GPS systems to track, coordinate and regulate the locational activities. The excessive use of GPS to track positions has made it more vulnerable to hacking. Attack on Global Positioning System for hacking and hijacking is on the rise. Installed GPS devices have enabled easy hacking of smart phones, iPhones, laptops and cars and last but not the least is aircraft hijacking. Through GPS, jamming a hacker can get a complete remote access of the electronic device.
How Can A GPS Device Be Jammed?
The purpose of GPS jamming is to block the signaling and prevent it from working. To disable a GPS tracking device a variety of methods is used. Hackers using mobile phones and other radio signal related electronics devices can disable the GPS too and not only that they can replace the real GPS signal with a fake one. This will show fake locational position. These GPS spoofing gadgets actually send fake radio signals replacing the real signal transmitted. Many people tend to relate GPS signals with navigation. The use of GPS as a time signal has potentially made it more susceptible to GPS spoofing which poised as a bigger threat today rather than simple GPS blocking.
How do you protect your GPS device is a big question?
Ethical Hacking Institutes are building technically sound experts who can actually prevent you from hackers. These ethical hacking training centers run certified ethical hacking courses. You can hire certified ethical hacking individuals who can technically and exclusively device programs for you to protect your GPS system.
Interloping, manipulating or nullifying of a GPS device is a punishable offense. So be on your guard and stay well informed and aware if you are technically and professionally dependent on the Global Positioning System. Remember whatever GPS device you have it is always prone to hacking.

FileMaker Recovery to Repair Database Using Inbuilt Recovery Feature

ileMaker is the most popular Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) for home users and small businesses. It is available for Mac OS X operating system and works in both single-user and multi-user environments. It stores your significant data in the form of a database, which uses the same schema and structure like other databases. However, in some situations, this complex database may get damaged and put you in need of FileMaker repair solutions.
In order to deal with the most frequent database corruption issues, FileMaker comes with an inbuilt recovery option. The process of Mac FileMaker recovery is very easy and quick. You can retrieve data using this option with the following simple steps:
  • Quit the FileMaker application so that all the files or windows are closed.
  • Open the application from Applications or Programs directory on your Mac OS X computer.
  • If you see a dialog box asking you to open a file, click Cancel because you should not open any file.
  • In the FileMaker application, select "Recover" option from the File menu.
  • On the next screen, locate and select damaged FileMaker file that you want to retrieve data from. When the application prompts you to provide the file name, use the default name and save it to the default location.
  • Click the Recover button.
  • After successful completion of the repair process, check for the errors. If there was no error in the process, you could continue working on the file.
  • In case you see errors in the process, you need to restore the database from most recent backup. It is the easiest way of safeguarding your valuable data.
You must understand that the inbuilt command for extracting the data from damaged database is a temporary solution. After you retrieve the data, you should migrate it to a new database structure. Once you detect corruption to the database, you should immediately stop using it. Continued use of corrupted files can lead to severe corruption.
If you are unable to get your data back using the above-mentioned steps, you should opt for the third-party application. Such tools are particularly designed to repair and restore corrupted files. They use highly effective and advanced recovery techniques to ensure absolute retrieval of all the items, such as tables, schema, rules etc.
Stellar provides the most comprehensive utility to use in such circumstances. It comes equipped with rich and intuitive Mac style graphical user interface to offer simple and easy recovery. The application does not edit, remove, or modify original data as of its read-only conduct

How Many Ways Are There To Generate Traffic To My Website?

I am going to take you through the different ways of generating traffic to your website. Most of the ideas were reviewed in my previous articles for getting traffic to your website. Traffic is the key to a successful internet business.
Just like in building any business, one method does not make a successful business. You must keep trying new ideas. If you were to go into a department store every day for a week, you would probably see new merchandise everyday. They want to keep those costumers coming. The internet is similar in that you need to keep traffic coming to your website.
I am going to envision a turtle by the name of Barron that is very patient building his traffic to his website. He has made an interesting website to sell a product. So, now he needs to get traffic. The first stop is using a newsletter to tell about his product. He wants to show his expert knowledge of his product by telling all the pertinent facts. He wants to show all benefits of using his product.
Next stop, Barron is sending out e-mails to friends and associates. He wants to let them know that he very excited about his new product. Some of his friends are probably on the internet, so he will ask them if he can put a tag on their e-mail with his website address and then Barron will do the same for them. Remember. we discussed linking with someone else. Friend to friend is always a good idea for you trust each other. You will both will end up with more traffic.
Next stop, Barron has decided to use a search engine like Yahoo, Google or Bing. Why? He wants to be sure to use keywords or keyword phrases that will cause costumers to come to his website. He does have to pay for the use of keywords or keyword phrases by the number of clicks his website gets. However, the cost of the clicks is small comparison to the sales made on Barron's website. Again, traffic is the key to making Barron's website successful.
Next stop. Barron has decided to try viral marketing. He has seen some marketing on social networking sites where someone sends out a video, funny story, beautiful pictures from their vacation, gossip about family reunion, funny games or simply an interesting article. The item ends up all over the internet. So, Barron has decided to try it to get more traffic.
The last post, Barron is still concerned that he needs more ideas. So, he has decided that he needs to join some forums and online communities to get more ideas.
You do not want to be like the person who thinks he can create a website and that completes his job. Be like Barron, the turtle who methodically continues to fine ways of getting more traffic. To be successful, you must be like Barron who is patiently trying new ideas to generate more traffic and thus more sales.
It is important to try several of the ideas to generate traffic to your website. The key to your success of selling your product will be the traffic to your website.

Header Tags and Search Engine Optimisation

Header Tags, as you may guess are used to differentiate the subject matter on a specific webpage and allow you to structure your page in an orderly manner. These headers are known as HTML header tags, heading tags and search engine optimisation (SEO) header tags. The most important header tag is the H1 tag and the least important is the H6.
The hierarchy of the header tags should be observed; this means that if you skip any of the headings the structure will be broken, and this will affect the webpages on-page SEO.
Below I have listed the header tag hierarchy:
  • <h1>Heading 1</h1>
  • <h2>Heading 2</h2>
  • <h3>Heading 3</h3>
  • <h4>Heading 4</h4>
  • <h5>Heading 5</h5>
  • <h6>Heading 6</h6>
An example of a broken structure would be if a H1 tag was used at the top of the page and then the next header tag used was a H3. This would render the header structure unfriendly to search engines.
A good example of SEO friendly header tags would be similar to the structure below:
  • <h1>Main Heading</h1>
  • <h2>Secondary Heading 1</h2>
  • <h3>Sub Section Heading of the Secondary Heading 1</h3>
  • <h2>Secondary Heading 2</h2>
  • <h3>Sub Section of the Secondary Heading 2</h3>
As mentioned above, the h1 tag is the most important tag. Every page must have one h1 tag only.
Headers represent the different sections of the content on a webpage and impacts both the SEO and usability of your website.
Headers from a search engine optimisation perspective:
  • Relevancy: Search engines are getting very clever at checking the relevancy of the header tags used on a webpage with the copy associated with it.
  • Consistency of Keywords: Search engine are able to gauge the keyword consistency of the content on the webpage and the headers.
  • H1 Importance: The H1 tag should never be omitted on a webpage. Engines pay special attention to the words used in the main header and it should contain a basic description of the content whilst also containing a designated keyword that you are targeting for that specific page.
  • Improved Usability: Headers give a visitor to your website a very clear idea of what the page content is about. User experience has a very big impact on the sites rankings, meaning a structure header hierarchy becomes an important factor in SEO.
Headers from a usability perspective:
  • Visitors to your website that require a screen reader will benefit from pages that are simply structured with clear header tags in place.
  • A well written H1 header will quickly give users a concise overview of the webpage content.
  • Well-structured headers will allow a visitor to quickly scan the content and find what they are looking for with the minimum of fuss.
  • Header tags are used primarily for search engine optimisation and not for the use of large, prominent typefaces; pages look cleaner and easier to read with the use of headers.
Header No No's:
  • Whilst you should try and include a keyword in your headers, do not overdo it, search engines will penalise your webpage with a drop in rankings.
  • Do not use more than one H1 tag per page. Pages should only have one main heading and by using two the engines will come to the conclusion that you are keyword stuffing. It is much better to divide content into two different topics and designate separate pages to them with their own H1's. This would aid usability and help search engines to determine the subject of your content more easily.
  • Do not use headers as hidden text, this is deemed very bad practice and will result in a loss of rankings, especially if the tags include SEO keywords.
  • Do not repeat the same headers on different pages of the same website. It is much better to have unique headings throughout the website.
  • Make sure that the H1 on your webpage is different to the meta title tag.
  • Do not use headers for text formatting; they should be used for organised and structured page content. Cascading style sheets (CSS) should be used for formatting purposes.

Camera Verification - Why Should You Care?

Camera data verification is becoming more and more a requirement when purchasing printing equipment, direct mail equipment, and packaging equipment. If you thought you wouldn't need it, think again. If your customers aren't asking for it, they will soon. If your competition doesn't offer it, they will soon. Why? Because some government regulations already require it... especially in the financial, insurance, and health industries. And if you want a piece of those industries, you'd better be able to provide it.
But what is camera verification? In the case of data verification (which is what we're talking about here), it is when a computer reads and confirms printed information. A digital camera looks at a name, number, address, etc., and verifies certain things. It might be the order and sequence in which the record shows up, according to the database the computer is matching the information with. It will also verify that each record (page) of a document is present, thus completing an entire job. And, of course, it might verify that barcodes, IMB, or 2D codes are present, correct, and readable.
Some of these things save money, some are absolute requirements. Here are a few examples of how camera and data verification is used with packaging, printing, and mailing equipment:
Matching: Banking and financial statements, health care records, insurance statements... all of these are filled with personal information. If there is a flaw somewhere in the printing, collating, and inserting of these records, camera verification can catch it. The computer will look at personalized information on each page (front and back) and make sure the right people are getting the right records. This could be barcodes, names, addresses, and/or record numbers. Without camera matching, a person could easily end up with someone else's statements-a severe violation of personal and corporate privacy.
Output Verification: With all the different direct mail equipment involved in putting together a mail piece, it's very easy for at least one link in the chain to weaken. This might mean missing pages, garbled print, or pages being out of order. Electronic output verification gives you, your customer, and government regulators proof that each package is complete, addressed properly, and in order. It also proves that the IMB and other barcodes were printed according to spec.
Read-Print or Read-Write: Other than matching and output verification, there's another easy way to make sure data printed in two different places match each other. In matching, both pieces are printed and then matched together. With a read-print setup, each printed record is based on a document or record that's already been printed. For example:
  1. An insert with personal information is printed.
  2. The camera reads that information as it runs through the machine.
  3. The computer matches it with a record in the database.
  4. The inserter puts the document in an envelope.
  5. A printer prints the address for that envelope.
In this case, there is no need for output verification. The software has already guaranteed the information will match.
Bindery Applications (stitchers, polywrappers, booklet makers, folders, collators): In binding and packaging industries, data verification can make sure that signatures end up in the right places, that document sets get the proper covers (with the right signatures and personal information), and detect missing or duplicate pieces within a set.
Without camera verification, any number of things could go wrong in the examples above. Even if you can say for sure that each printed piece has the right information, checking and correcting mechanical malfunctions could be time consuming and costly without camera verification. What's more, in the customer's mind, the proof of accuracy and quality is what's important. Camera verification is the easiest way to provide that proof

Increase Web And Blog Traffic

Blogger traffic is the amount of data sent and received by visitors to a web site. Since the mid-1990s, web traffic has been the largest portion of Internet traffic. This is determined by the number of visitors and the number of pages they visit. Sites monitor the incoming and outgoing traffic to see which parts or pages of their site are popular and if there are any apparent trends, such as one specific page being viewed mostly by people in a particular country. There are many ways to monitor this traffic and the gathered data is used to help structure sites, highlight security problems or indicate a potential lack of bandwidth not all web traffic is welcome.
Some companies offer advertising schemes that, in return for increased web traffic (visitors), pay for screen space on the site. Sites also often aim to increase their web traffic through inclusion on search engines and through search engine optimization.
Web traffic is measured to see the popularity of web sites and individual pages or sections within a site.
Web traffic can be analyzed by viewing the traffic statistics found in the web server log file, an automatically generated list of all the pages served. A hit is generated when any file is served. The page itself is considered a file, but images are also files, thus a page with 5 images could generate 6 hits (the 5 images and the page itself). A page view is generated when a visitor requests any page within the web site – a visitor will always generate at least one page view (the main page) but could generate many more. Tracking applications external to the web site can record traffic by inserting a small piece of HTML code in every page of the web site
Web traffic is also sometimes measured by packet sniffing and thus gaining random samples of traffic data from which to extrapolate information about web traffic as a whole across total Internet usage.
The following types of information are often collated when monitoring web traffic:
Controlling web traffic
The amount of traffic seen by a web site is a measure of its popularity. By analysing the statistics of visitors it is possible to see shortcomings of the site and look to improve those areas. It is also possible to increase  the popularity of a site and the number of people that visit it.Limiting access

It is sometimes important to protect some parts of a site by password, allowing only authorized people to visit particular sections or pages.
Some site administrators have chosen to block their page to specific traffic, such as by geographic location. The re-election campaign site for U.S. President George W. Bush (GeorgeWBush.com) was blocked to all internet users outside of the U.S. on 25 October 2004 after a reported attack on the site
It is also possible to limit access to a web server both based on the number of connections and by the bandwidth expended by each connection. On Apache HTTP servers, this is accomplished by the limitipconn module and others.
Website traffic from SEO
The majority of website traffic is driven by the search engines. Millions of people use search engines everyday to research various topics, buy products, and go about their daily surfing activities. Search engines use keywords to help users find relevant information and each of the major search engines has developed a unique algorithm to determine where websites are placed within the search results. When a user clicks on one of the listings in the search results, they are directed to the corresponding website and data is transferred from the website's server, thus counting the visitors towards the overall flow of traffic to that website.
Search engine optimization (SEO)
is the ongoing practice of optimizing a website to help improve its rankings in the search engines. Several internal and external factors are involved which can help improve a site's listing within the search engines. The higher a site ranks within the search engines for a particular keyword, the more traffic they will receive.
Web traffic can be increased by placement of a site in search engines and purchase of advertising, including bulk e-mail, pop-up ads, and in-page advertisements. Web traffic can also be increased by purchasing through web traffic providers or non-internet based advertising.
Web traffic can be increased not only by attracting more visitors to a site, but also by encouraging individual visitors to "linger" on the site, viewing many pages in a visit. (see Outbrain for an example of this practice)
If a web page is not listed in the first pages of any search, the odds of someone finding it diminishes greatly (especially if there is other competition on the first page). Very few people go past the first page, and the percentage that go to subsequent pages is substantially lower. Consequently, getting proper placement on search engines is as important as the web site itself.

WordPress MU makes it possible for those with a website to host their own blogging community, as well as control and moderate all the blogs from a single dashboard. WordPress MU adds eight new data tables for each blog.

Widgets

Widgets are small modules that offer users drag-and-drop sidebar content placement through the implementation of plugins' extended abilities. Some of these Widgets offer customization options such as web forms to fill out, includes or excludes of data and information such as Categories, Archives and Recent Posts, optional images through slideshows and/or carousels, amongst other customization features. These small modules are typically displayed within the header (header.php), footer (footer.php) and sidebars (sidebar.php files) of websites, but can also be placed outside of said locations enabling even further customization

Plugins

One very popular feature of WordPress is its rich plugin architecture which allows users and developers to extend its abilities beyond the core installation. WordPress has a database of over 24,000 plugins, each of which offer custom functions and features enabling users to tailor their site to their specific needs. These customizations range from SEO (Search Engine Optimization) enhancers to content-displaying features, such as the addition

Themes

WordPress users may install and switch between themes. Themes allow users to change the look and functionality of a WordPress website or installation without altering the information content or structure of the site. Themes may be installed using the WordPress "Appearance" administration tool or theme folders may be uploaded via FTP. The PHP, HTML & CSS code found in themes can be added or edited for providing advanced features. Thousands of WordPress themes exist, some free, and some premium (paid for) templates.
